Red, White and Blue Trifle

I fixed this luscious-looking dessert to take to our church picnic yesterday evening. It vanished! *smile* Those people do take their desserts seriously! *smile*
Here is the recipe if you'd like to give it a try!

Red, White and Blue Trifle
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
2 cups confectioners' sugar
8 ounces sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 angel food cake (store bought is fine)
1 quart strawberries
1 quart blueberries
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla
Cream together cream cheese and confectioners sugar.
Add sour cream and vanilla Set this mixture aside.
In separate bowl whip the whipping cream and add to cream cheese mixture.
Tear up angel food cake and mix in with cheese mixture.
In separate bowl (s) place strawberries and blueberries 3/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla
(You can mix the berries together or keep separate, for a pretty red, white and blue look;if separate divide sugar and vanilla between the two bowls).
In a clear glass bowl alternate layers of the cream cheese mixtures and the berries.
Garnish the top with berries.
Refrigerate for a couple of hours.
This looks absolutely beautiful and taste just as great!
I whipped up the other 8oz. of whipping cream, because you have to buy a pint anyway and what would I do with 8oz. of leftover whipping cream :-)? (to which I added a little granulated sugar to sweeten) to top the dessert with because there just wasn't quite enough of the other mixture to finish it off. Then I put berries that I had saved on the top!
