Wednesday's Random 12!!

Linda at 2nd Cup Of Coffee hosts a Random 12 Questions each Wednesday! This is #8 and I'm still at it!! Hope you enjoy reading my answers and you can read others which are linked at Linda's blog of join the fun with us and post your answers to the random 12! Have a great and blessed day! :-)

1. Candy corn: Your thoughts?
I love the looks of it because the colors remind me of fall but it is just too
sweet for my liking.

2. Briefly, what was the first conversation you ever had with your spouse? (or best friend, if you're not married.) (Or someone significant, like your librarian.)
He approached me at church and asked me about how he would go about renting the apartment I had just moved out of.

3. Could you ever become a vegetarian?
Well, I’ve never met a vegetable I didn’t like, but I am a carnivore at heart. I loooove meat! I can make a meal out of just meat and bread and butter. Or meat and salad. But I can’t see myself ever just grazing on veggies.

4. Have you ever dressed up your pet in a costume?
No.

5. Name something about childhood that you miss (like Clark Bars, Teaberry Gum, Malibu Barbie, cracking fake eggs on people's heads with your fist and "It's the Great Pumpkin" airing only once a year).
I miss being able to play “real” make believe! (Does that make sense?) My sister Debbie and I used to play paper dolls for hours. We made up our own soap opera practically! And we played house with our dolls. I played school by myself on the stairs in the house where I was raised. I had imaginary students. It was one of my favorite things to play.

6. Have you ever won a trophy? If not, what do you deserve a trophy for?
No, I’ve never won a trophy, though I’ve gotten certificates and ribbons. Hmmm….I don’t know what I deserve a trophy for. I really don’t. Hmmmm…..
Okay, the only thing I can think of is that during a period of about 4 years, I was unable to walk without a walker. I was in extreme pain and it took so much effort to go anywhere. I was unable to do the weekly grocery shopping most of the time. My DH stepped in and did a wonderful job. It just got to the place that it was too painful to go anywhere but where I HAD to. And the one place I wanted to go more than any other was to church, the house of the Lord. I am the music director/keyboard player at our church. I only missed two services in those four years. I was always taught to be faithful to the house of the Lord and I knew that no matter how badly I might be feeling, I would feel so much better once I made it to the house of the Lord and I did! For the one and a half to two hours I was there, I would feel better physically than I did all the rest of the week! *tears* God is so faithful! I am now able to walk again, pain-free! “He is my everything, He is my all! He is my everything, Both great and small, He gave His life for me, Made everything new, He is my everything, Now how about you?”

7. When do you think is the appropriate time to begin playing Christmas music each year?
AFTER Thanksgiving! Please. I like Christmas music but by the time Christmas is over, I am so thankful that I don’t have to hear it again for awhile. I do like Christmas music, but after two months of nothing but Christmas music on all of the stations I listen to..well, like I said above….I’m so glad it’s over for awhile.

8. What's your favorite board game?
Hmmmm….probably Bible Trivia. We always have so much fun when we play it!! AND we end up finding out just how much we don’t know about the Bible! J

9. How do you feel about surprises (receiving, not giving)?
I loooove surprises! My DH surprised me with flowers and for Sweetest Day this past Saturday! It was wonderful! And our son called us at five o’clock on a Sunday morning to tell us that we were going to be grandparents! They had just done an EPT! That was just about the best surprise ever! I love birthday surprises and the surprise of opening gifts at Christmas or anytime, for that matter!

10. Is it easy for you to say, "I'm sorry?"
Most often, it is. And I am thankful for this personality trait, if that is what you would call it. I’ve always felt remorse quite readily after doing or saying something that I shouldn’t have. And I’m talking about the times I’ve had to apologize to people that were not particularly easy to apologize to! :-/ I would also rather err on the side of apologizing when I perhaps didn’t really HAVE to than to NOT apologize when I should have.
On the flip side of this is the fact that if an apology is offered too quickly after an argument or unfortunate situation, it might be viewed as not being truly sincere but, for me personally, that is not the case. With the Lord’s help, I’ve always tried to keep things right between myself and others.

11. What is your favorite candle scent?
At the moment, Plymouth Bay’s Cinnamon and Sugar.

12. October is traditionally "open house" time in public schools. If you had a literal open house in your home (like a reception) what light snacks would you serve visitors and what would you show them (as in art projects, graded papers) that would uniquely represent you?
I would have finger foods such as Pickle Wraps, Tortilla Roll-ups, possibly a vegetable tray w/dip and fruit tray w/dip, chips, homemade cookies, coffee and punch.
As far as showing them things that would “uniquely represent me”, I would have to show them my Ohio State Buckeye den and the scarlet and gray afghans I have crocheted for it. Actually, I would probably just show them through my house because each room is a representation of me and who I am, as I put my heart and soul into my home.

Love your answer to #12 -- that's how I feel about my home, too (except the Buckeye stuff, of course. :-))

I agree about Christmas music and vegetarianism.

#6 was such a blessing. I know sometimes I have something physical going on and don't feel like going to church or ladies' meeting, but when I do, more often than not I feel better. And it is so good to hear about your being pain-free. I can remember just aching over the pain you wee in.

Linda has a Mr. Linky up now where you can list your post.

First-congratulations on your happy grandparents news! That's exciting!

I wrote about paper dolls on my list too. My sister and I used to play for hours with them...we'd set them up in families and we would just have the best time. Sigh

I will add your sister to my prayer journal for tomorrow morning...praying all goes well with her surgery and recovery.

okay, I just looked again at the dates on your post and I'm thinking the surgery was today...hoping all went well!

I couldn't agree more about the Christmas music! My birthday is on Nov. 13th and I certainly do NOT want to hear music before then. After Thanksgiving... BRING IT ON!!!
