It was GRAND! :-)

Here we are shortly after arriving at the Grand Canyon! This has been a life-long dream of mine....to see the Grand Canyon. It did not disappoint and to think it finally became a realization with my wonderful husband! Wow! It just doesn't get any better!!
This picture was taken the next morning as the sun came up. *sigh* Such beauty to behold.
Oh, I'm talking about the canyon, not me! :-)
And here is Ed looking all handsome for me!! :-)

We flew into Las Vegas, arriving at 9:15AM.  We rented a car and drove to the Golden Nugget, which was suggested by a dear friend who has been there before. I most often do the driving in unfamiliar metro areas and, thankfully, got to the hotel without a hitch! Thank you, Jesus!

Our room was wonderful and we both slept like babies, as the beds and pillows were so wonderfully comfortable!

This is our drive out of Las Vegas heading toward the Hoover Dam, like nothing I've ever seen before!

See how desolate the terrain looks? Unbelieveable.

I took so many pictures! The wide open spaces are what I was amazed at because we are surrounded by hills here. Tree-covered hills. Trees with leaves. Ed said he would never complain about raking leaves ever again! :-) I have to agree. And speaking of leaves, this is what we came home to and we're not complaining! :-)

And now that we have been home for a few days, we are getting the upper hand on those leaves that we now love! See for yourselves:

And this is what the front of the house looks like with the few "dressings" I've put around in honor of  autumn and the coming Thanksgiving holiday!! :-)
Have a wonderful weekend, give what you can to the Red Cross for those who are suffering because of Hurricane Sandy and pray that the help can get to them soon AND that they can resume a life of "normalcy" soon. In Jesus' Name.

You are very brave to drive in unfamiliar places! I'd have a hard time doing that without my GPS.

I do tend to love more leafy and verdant scenery, but the west has a beauty all its own.

Yes, we have a GPS, Barbara, but don't even use it. I love to read maps map out our routes, figure up the mileage and I also peruse the internet for suggestions from other travelers for best routes, scenic routes and so on.
I'm so old-school in some ways. :-)

Oh,Jewel! I'm so glad you and Ed were able to take that trip! Sir & I have talked about it, but until I'm able to walk better, I don't think it will happen. The pictures were gorgeous!

It was indeed wonderful, Joyce! I hope to go back one day!
Theresa, it is handicap accessible! It is worth whatever it takes to go see it in person!!

The Grand Canyon is spectacular. We got to experience a rainstorm come thru the canyon then a rainbow following it. Was truly beautiful. How can people not believe in God? Glad you got to go! Hoover Dam was a pretty area also. And the Golden Nugget was fun. Vegas was so hot when we were there this time we did not do much outside. But the Canyon I would love to go back and spend a couple of days there.
until next time... nel

The Grand Canyon is on our list of places to go. I've heard it's just incredible! You got some beautiful pictures.

That would have been so awesome, Nel, to see a rainbow over the canyon. Wow! The weather was perfect in LV when we were there, though we didn't spend too much time there. We didn't even go down the Strip! :-) It was just where we flew into on our way to the GC!
Oh, you just HAVE to do it, Mary! We are thinking of going back again next fall. There is so much we didn't see and we just love the area.
